Weekly Spi’s:

7.1. spi 11 Identify plot elements in the proper place for a graphic organizer
7.3. spi 5 Identify the correct use of nouns (abstract/concrete) and pronouns (reflexive, intensive, and relative)
7.1. spi 4 Make predictions about the outcome of a given passage
7.1. spi 16 Draw inferences from selected passages

*MONDAY*

BELL WORK- Create an outline for essay topic six

DAILY PLAN- Students will recognize abstract and concrete nouns in our green Elements of Literature books. I will review some examples, then students will work with a partner on exercise 5, page 341. Students must identify each noun as abstract or concrete then create a sentence using the noun properly.

HOMEWORK-None

-TUESDAY-

BELL WORK- Correct two grammatically incorrect sentences from the overhead

DAILY PLAN- Students will review abstract and concrete nouns. We will then recognize reflexive, intensive, and relative pronouns in our green Elements of Literature books. Students will work with a partner on exercise 6 on page 345. Students must draw a square around the pronoun and identify the type of noun in the margin.

HOMEWORK- Noun

*WEDNESDAY*

BELL WORK- Correct two grammatically incorrect sentences from the overhead

DAILY PLAN- Students will read along with the CD playing act one from The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street as a review. They will then complete a worksheet that covers all vocabulary words from this story.

HOMEWORK- None

*THURSDAY*

BELL WORK- Read and answer the reading check on page 68 in the Literature Book as a class

DAILY PLAN- Students will read act two aloud and make inferences as well as identify complications in a graphic organizer. Students will stop reading just before the end of the story and write a creative ending.

HOMEWORK- Finish reading the story to find out the real ending.

*FRIDAY*

BELL WORK- Turn in essay #6 and copy down essay topic #7.

DAILY PLAN- Debate life issues as a class, with rules that deal with respecting our classmates and values. I will correct students in grammar while speaking. This assignment will deal specifically with students’ public speaking skills.

HOMEWORK- None, have a great weekend!
