Monday 5/5-
Students will present the timelines of their lives. We will discuss how we have access to research the past of the world and how we are a part of history. This will tie into the novel The Giver. We will discuss the differences between a utopian society and today’s society; learning to appreciate the choices and freedom that we have.
Tuesday 5/6-
Students will begin to define unfamiliar terms that are written throughout the novel. Students will work with a partner and may write the definitions in their own words. We will read the first chapter of The Giver while discussing the differences in society’s.
Wednesday 5/7-
Students will define unfamiliar terms for the first twenty minutes of class. We will read and discuss chapters 1 and 2 and complete a review over both chapters along with a vocabulary review. Begin reading chapter 3.
Thursday 5/8-
Students will define unfamiliar terms for the first twenty minutes of class. We will read and discuss chapters 3-5, complete a review over both chapters along with a vocabulary review.
Friday 5/9-
Students will define unfamiliar terms for the first 15 minutes of class. After reading through Chapter 5, students will complete a Venn Diagram illustrating likeness and differences in your and Jonas’s communities. Begin reading chapter 6.
